"Rescue Robots" Final Project Design
Designed Student Final Project as TA for 2.12 (Intro to Robotics)
I acted as a lab assistant for 2.12 for two years, and we were tasked with defining and executing the final project. We also assisted students throughout their completion of the project.
For the "Robot Rescue" project, students rescued a vicTIM (a stuffed beaver representing MIT's mascot, TIM the beaver) from a debris field. The beaver was retrieved from the field with a UR5 and placed on a mobile base for rescue.
Here is the obstacle course we designed:

And here are the vicTIMs. Inside, I added mini heating pads so they could be located with IR cameras in the debris field, as well as an IMU and a FSR to detect shaking and squishing of the beaver during transport. This data was factored into the scoring for each team.

I also knit little sweaters for each beaver :)
